The old Kern Junction Tower stood at the intersection of the Santa Fe and Southern Pacific mainlines in Bakersfield and was responsible for sorting out their respective trains. Kern Tower also shared the responsibility of track permits on the double track portion of the SP between Baker Street and beginning of CTC at Sandcut.
