An 839 train glides between Asbury and Collier on the final leg of its journey into Richmond on July 22, 1984. GP35's 2897 and 2905 are spliced by GP30 2747. Notice that all three units are equipped with exhaust deflectors, which were added to most Santa Fe rebuilds in the 1980's. The deflectors were supposed to keep exhaust from the leading engines from being immediately sucked back into the air intakes of the following engines.
