On May 15th, 1982, Caltrain unveiled its first paint scheme. They painted SP GP9E 3187 and three SP commute cars in this multi-color rainbow scheme. Fortuneately, cooler heads prevailed and Caltrain settled on a more traditional scheme based on the Platinum Mist color. Presented here in San Francisco on the San Francisco Belt Line, probably a couple of blocks from their old roundhouse at the foot of Battery Street.
